In honor of International Women's Day, WIF.D is hosting a night of Short Films from around the world. It's the annual Women in Film and Television International (WIFTI) Showcase.  The night starts with OMG, which show how one "g-ma" turns the table on her Generation Z granddaughter, and then ends with a single woman who takes a Brazilian Wax into her own hands for a hot date in The Brazilian. There's also a Dallas Film -  Raspberry Jam shares the story of a man who loses everything on his journey toward hope (Check out the TRAILER for the Short Film Raspberry Jam).

It's an evening of stories by WOMEN and for EVERYONE. Here is the full line-up:

OMG (10 minutes) Women in Film & TV Vancouver
(Director - Siobhan Devine, Writer - Roslyn Muir)
Film Synopsis: This is an inter-generational film about a 14-year-old emo-goth, Kaylee, who thinks she is at the top of the food chain when it comes to being misunderstood. She runs to her g-Ma's house to escape her parents. All is well until her cell phone battery runs out!


Director Bio: Born and raised in the UK, her family immigrated to Canada where she pursued her degrees in drama. Siobhan has directed episodic TV, short films, and a documentary. She is currently working on a multi-cam sitcom.

Olivia's Birds and the Oil Spill (6:46 minutes) Women in Film & Video Washington DC
(Director/Producer - Lynne Cherry)

Film Synopsis: This short documentary is part of a series (Young Voices of the Planet) that Lynne is producing. In this short, Olivia is distraught over the BP oil spill and sets out to right the wrongs by raising funds to rescue the oiled birds. Her efforts draw worldwide attention and gain international results.

Director Bio: Lynne is an author, illustrator, filmmaker and environmental lecturer. Lynne found that messages of doom were not getting the response she hoped for and came on to the idea to let our children tell us what they would do, and want us to do.

First Kiss ( 13:22
minutes) Women in Film & Television Pittsburgh, PA
(Director/Writer/Producer - Yulin Kuang)

Film Synopsis: Can you remember the pressure of wanting that first kiss? Let Yulin bring you back to that awkward place in life.

Director Bio: Yulin is a recent graduate of Carnegie Mellon University. Here she wrote and directed many short films, as well as web series. Recently she received the 2012 Ellen Weiss Kander Award, which gave her a production grant to finish her current short "The Perils of Growing Up Flat-Chested".

Smart is What You Get (5:20 minutes) New York Women in Film & Television
(Director/Writer - Jennifer Wollan)

Film Synopsis: At the Catherine Ferguson Academy in Detriot they are learning more than reading and writing. Young teen mothers, and pregnant teens, attend this school with their infants.

Director Bio: Jennifer has an extensive career in Film and TV as a producer, writer, filmmaker and editor. She has been with "Good Morning America" for over 7 years. Through her company Reel Biography she has been making corporate, and private films for many years. She is a graduate of Harvard University.

Raspberry Jam (9:12
minutes) Women in Film. Dallas
(Director/Editor - Courtney Ware & Producer - Meredith Burke)

Film Synopsis: A mystical tale about a man who loses everything on his journey toward hope. Oh, and there's a leprechaun, too.

Director Bio: Courtney has been working professionally in film since 2005 as a producer on award winning short films. Her company Aware Films is currently in development on her first feature film directorial debut, "Sunny in the Dark".

Reindeer (3
minutes) Women in Film & TV UK
(Director - Eva Weber & Editor - Fiona DeSouza)

Film Synopsis: A poetic study in movement and sound, this film takes you on a journey to the twilight expanses of the Lappish wilderness to experience the ancient practice of reindeer herding or 'husbandry'.

Director Bio: Eva has an extensive list of short and feature length documentaries, which she has both directed and edited.
 
The Brazilian (8 minutes) New Mexico Women in Film
(Director/Writer - Lindsy Campbell & Editor - Elena Ortiz)

Film Synopsis: Today's body image fads clash with a simple inexperienced girls who finds a long held crush wanting to date her. Her best friend's advice leads her down a very uncomfortable road. (BRIEF NUDITY)

Director Bio: This is Lindsy's first film as a director, writer, editor and producer. She recently relocated to New Mexico from her home in NY. As an actress she has appeared in many films and TV shows.

Dangerous Ride (14 minutes) Women in Film & TV New Zealand
(Director/Writer - Linda Niccol & Producer - Glenis Giles)

Film Synopsis: When a sex offender undergoing rehabilitation picks up an attractive young girl from the side of the road, his life takes an unexpected turn.

Director Bio: This is Linda's third short film as director. She has been writing screenplays for more than ten years, and winning awards along the way.
